[Reese stands on the walls of the keep, staring off into the flat plains of red earth that seems to stretch on forever. Already he's been here longer than he likes. Dutch is missing, though he hopes she's still home and went straight to Ada when he went missing. Mad as she is, he hopes that she'll at least come looking for him.
Finally he gets out his journal and asks a few questions that have been bugging him this whole time.]
Hopin' one of ya might spare a moment fer a new arrival that's still tryin' to get the lay of the land of this place. It'd be much appreciated if ya did.
So, is there any reason no one has just walked outta the front gate? Noticed we got quite a few people here and this place doesn't look all that inescapable. Fer that matter, anyone here know where the sun's gone too? Kinda hard to tell where north is without it.

Where would you go if you could leave? I mean, this place is very odd...what if you don't end up where you were supposed to?

Personally I'd start heading home and keep walkin' till I finally found it.

It is true.

Well. There's a nice confirmation that anyone can read these.]
The thing about going over the wall meaning death is true?
[Video] for life
Date: 2012-06-20 07:08 am (UTC)From:Regarding the bit Shalnark... mind you are cautious around him. He was responsible for the death of the girl-child, Lily. The troll... I know not why one would advise you to use caution with Kevas... he is kind and protects those he cares for to the death. I would not advise being the one to either harm one of they, or to attempt to forestall his hand should you be friends with one who does. He can be strong willed and harsh in word and action, but he is just. You should not presume him troublesome until you have met and spoken with him yourself.
As to the other matter... aye, I spoke of death.
[Her ears pin back against her skull and she shrinks down a bit, but continues speaking.]
If you attempt to pass the boundaries laid out before us, you will die. Scaling the walls or attempting otherwise is... inadvisable. In varied scouting missions we have learned that there is a ceiling of sorts overhead... a sort of magical barrier that you cannot pass. I nearly knocked myself senseless while flying one day with Aar- [A hesitation.]... while flying.
I died when attempting to cross the threshold that borders the lake. It took a good amount of speed behind my dive, and the barrier tried to hold me inside before I slipped through, but I made it. I lived long enough to choke in a breath or two before breathing became impossible and I suffocated in the wasteland beyond the Keep.
[Her eyes are a bit larger, pupils pinned to the tiniest of dots.]
It is not something I would attempt again soon. I have died twice in this place and twice it has brought me back... it took longer to regain my own thoughts and memories each time.
[Her ears raise a bit from her feathered head and her tone sounds a bit wry when she continues.]
I would not recommend it to either of you, unless you favor a short and painful death...

Date: 2012-06-20 01:40 pm (UTC)From:Of course when she mentions a ceiling Reese immediately looks back up at the sky again.]
Wait, that sky is a ceilin'? Is this place some kind of buildin'?
[More and more he comes to dislike place. Everyone seems so content here but the fatality rate seems to be disturbingly high for such a small population.]
Right so, keep on this side of the wall. Knew there had to be somethin' keepin' us here.
[Audio] all audio all the time
Date: 2012-06-21 07:24 am (UTC)From:I'll keep that in mind. It's possible there was a misunderstanding, but he threatened a friend of mine.
[Which isn't something that Nick is really all that ready to overlook, but he'll be more cautious. Double check with Monroe.
The ceiling bit catches his attention, too.]
Could explain why there's no sun.
